A religion created in 1965 by Paul Twitchell (d 1972). It teaches the art of "Soul Travel", which is the ability to elevated one's astral body to a higher plane of existence when time and space are meaningless and, therefore, universal travel is possible. At such levels the human spirit can also easily bond with the universal all. Twitchell claims to have built Eckankar on principles of ancient origin.
