Hey, has anyone seen the new TV show "Paranormal State"? I got to see 2 episodes. It looks really good. Not like TAPS, but in my opinion... Better. They explain in more details of what's going on & different techniques used. If you haven't seen it yet, you should. It's on A&E at 10pm on Mondays.

I've seen previews of it, but haven't seen the show. It does look good. Personally I think any Paranormal show on T.V. looks better than TAPS; I don't know, there's something about TAPS that I don't like, just can't put my finger to it.

Ivymoon, I think it's cuz TAPS does alot of talking & doesn't really explain things. or maybe it's cuz they've been around for a while & have a rep. of being rude & swares alot.
eldasilma, what are you talking about?... Monster quest?

I have been catching snippets of episodes of "Paranormal State" when it replays during the week or late night on weekends, because I can never remember when the new episodes air, so thanks for the time slot plug! The chunks that I have been able to catch have been very interesting. The other "new" program I find very interesting is Derek Acoura's "Ghost Towns" which airs at 11:00 p.m. on Fridays on the Travel Channel--immediately following "Most Haunted". For those who watch the latter on a regular basis, you will recall that Derek used to be one of the mediums on "Most Haunted", and was replace by David Wells. I always wondered what happened to Derek and now I know: He got his own gig! He's very engaging though and I find it fascinating when he is drawn to a purportedly random home, knocks on the door and does a dead-on reading for the residents!

Hiddencaldera...
I have also been watching Most Haunted also, but it's hard trying to stay up for Derek Acoura's Ghost Towns, until a week and a half ago and saw an episode, and I agree.. I do like when Derek visits someone's house too. I've always like Most haunted and this Season has gotten REAL GOOD!!

oh and to BLUEFEDISH.. You have a point but I feel there's just something else to them, like a fakeness.. and can't help but ask, are they're doing this to help people or just for the money?? but can't help it thinking of them being fakes.

Anything has to be better than taps. After the crap they pulled at the Carriage House in Wyoming County, anything has to be better. They let bats in the building. They goofed off the entire time, & they cut anything out of the show that showed them spooked in any way. The big guy in the show freaked out & ran down one of the halls screaming. Professional I disagree!

I went to the Paranormal State's web-site & found an additional web-site that tells more about the group & what they do, how they got started, etc. They explain more about 'dead time', 'EVPs', 'FIR', etc. in some details. I know I enjoyed it very much. The web-site is: www.aetv.com/videos/display.jsp?id=PN_01_RyanBuell

It's just amazing how many "paranormal" programs are popping up on television lately--seems like there's a new one every month or so. We have Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Paranormal State, Rescue Mediums, Most Haunted and (for a short time anyway) Derek Acoura's Ghost Towns, and the latest two: Scary but True and Scariest Places on Earth (Sci Fi Channel, Tuesdays, 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.)
About a month ago, I had a Sunday afternoon where I had absolutely nothing to do, so I sat down, went to A & E On Demand and caught up on every single episode of Paranormal State. While I still enjoy watching Ghost Hunters (for entertainment purposes), I think Paranormal State is my favorite at the moment. While I sometimes feel that the two newest young ladies still aren't sure whether they're participating because they have a real need to know, or just like the idea of being on TV, I really feel as if the rest of the team is serious about the investigations and helping people who are seeking answers and/or resolutions to their experiences. I am absolutely fascinated by the "demon whose name shall not be be uttered" that keeps cropping up now and again at various investigations.
As for Most Haunted, I'm actually losing interest. Seems like it's the same thing every week lately: they go in, contact a "spirit" or "entity", have a "knock twice for yes and once for no" conversation (and, ok, I know I'm getting older and after decades of loud music, my hearing may not be what it once was, but I very seldom hear the knocks at all!); ask it to throw something at them (to which the spirit always responds on command); hold a little seance and watch the table hop, skip and jump around; walk around making so much noise that I am hard-pressed to understand how they hear anything and yet, they're constantly saying "What was that? What was that?", and then Yvette bids you to sleep tight; fade to black. I noted that "Most Haunted" was not on at all this past Friday and quite frankly, I'd be happier if they replaced it with Derek and his Traveling Medium Show!
In closing, I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend that you take in "Scary But True" and "Scariest Places on Earth" Tuesday nights on SciFi. The latter is especially entertaining: hosted by Linda Blair (who looks so old, I had to watch the entire first episode just to hear her say "This is Linda Blair. Good night." --just to be sure it was her. The premise of the program is to spotlight various purportedly haunted locations (the story behind each location annoyingly narrated by "Tangina" from the Poltergeist movies), after which they segue to a family that has been chosen to spend the night in a particular location that has a long history of being haunted. By the end of each episode, you're convinced that the real horror is being subjected to listening to "Tangina's" annoying rasp--but still interesting and worth a watch if you have nothing better to do.

Sue, what you said about Scariest places on earth....I can't agree more. Then again, what is tackier? Using Linda Blair or the whole "Tangina" voice over? hhhmmmm. Maybe next season we will be graced with Elvira and voice over from the Cryptkeeper from HBO's Tales from the Crypt?
Personally I am holding out for the Children's show Ooky-Spooky Playgrounds hosted by Sesame Street's The Count. "one redundant rating point...ha ha ha......2 redundant..."

Unfortunatly since I started my new job & I work 2nd shift, I get to miss out on Paranormal State. It sucks that I get to see all the previews, but can't watch the show & they don't have it on any other days. Oh well, maybe I'll just buy the show when it comes out on dvd.

Hey Blue, glad you have a new job even if it is at night! If you have digital cable, you can go to A & E On Demand and watch Paranormal State any old time you want. If you don't, well maybe down the road with that new job, you can get it. In the alternative, I now Amanda DVRs it pretty regularly (because she gets too scared watching at night) so maybe if you ask her real nice... Congrats on the job! Play Wink

I think My two favorite shows now are, In Plain Sight and Southland. Both are different but are very well written and yoo dont feel like a ween wachin them. Shows should entertain and you should never feel you could do a better job LOL Also you should not want to kill the star, like I do with Monk, i really hate that guy!
