If you haven't already read them, Mason Winfield's books are must-reads. He's a local author (and even had a special on TV last Halloween) and all of his books regard hauntings in the Western New York area and general paranormal activity in the area. His first one, Shadows of the Western Door was very interesting as he explored a lot of the spiritual beliefs and paranornal lore handed down by the local Native American tribes; and why Western New York came to be known as the "Western Door" by spiritualists. He also conducts Ghost Tours in East Aurora and Downtown Buffalo. I believe his website is www.masonwinfield.com and there's usually a schedule on the site. I and a friend of mine were planning on joining one of the East Aurora tours a couple of years ago, but when the night arrived (mid-October), it was raining and windy, so we opted for just having dinner at the Roycroft instead!

Trust me, most of us are very familier with Mr. Winfield. Many of us also know him on a personal level.
