Basic outline of the Indigoism concept and phenomena.
The Indigo phenomenon began approximately 100 years ago with very rare and few cases, these children were born with an insight and a different outlook at the world than any other children. Born with a key sense of accomplishment and some form of destiny they must fulfill, some of these children knew what was destiny they were to fulfill others had to discover this on their own.
The cases of indigoism were far and few between until right after WWII, during this time the indigo birth rate shot up drastically (Reasons for this increase are unknown). This incline began to level off after about 10-15 years. The common theory is that these Indigo would be adults by the time the next incline of indigo births began, making these adults grand parents or parents of this new generation. The next incline of indigo children began approximately in the 70's and did not level off until the early 90's.
These Indigo children were separated by varies traits they possess. These are as follows:
They are misdiagnosed with ADD or ADHD
They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)
They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.
Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are."
They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought.
They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).
They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward; feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").
They are not shy in letting you know what they need.
Aside from those traits the indigo children and adults are said to have many spiritual and psychic abilities the most common of which are telepathy, acute foresight, a 6th sense towards energy, extremely deep empathy being able to sense and change the emotions of people around them.
The term "Indigo" is given to this generation because their aura is said to be an indigo blue color, this aura is said to reside around the body especially in the area where the "third eye chakra" is supposed to exist in the center of the head between the eyebrows.
From the 90's till 2000 and onward the indigo were born differently more spiritually tied and more intoned to faith. This generation is known as the crystal children and have more heightened senses towards emotion and more powerful psychically. These crystals are said to be the ones that shall take humanity into the next step of their evolution and begin a new age.
I am not a doctor or any authority figure on this subject but I have embraced it for long enough now to make some conclusions about individual Indigo children and adults. Though much study and conversation with other indigo I have concluded that there are three types of Indigo. The types are Empathic, Psychic, and Spiritual. I spent countless hours considering other types but these sum up as much as I have encountered, discovered, and studied.
In my research it has been apparent to me that most indigo display a percentage of all the three traits. Of these traits one is usually dominate and makes classifying the Indigo into one of the tree types easy. However not all Indigo share common to this rule some have only two out of three traits and others only one. So this only theory is not written in stone there is still much to discover but I do believe this is the first classification of its kind so at least in the name of research I am trying.
The three types are as followed:
Empathic Indigo: This type of Indigo is much focused on empathy, helping to improve the world and helping others. This Indigo is emotion based and can often manipulate energies which are given off by emotions. It is often understood this type of Indigo is the "rock" or "a shoulder to cry on" in many friendships, families, or other relationships with people. In most cases the Indigo Empathic is selfless and often would rather put them though heartache to help another feel better.
The negative aspects of the Empathic Indigo are seen in the flaws in their own emotions, and the stress of others put upon them. Depression often is a result of the empathic indigo putting their hearts out and holding the pain of others on their shoulders. This depression is usually silent and turned inward until eventually an emotion or metal breakdown follows. Coping with this stress and depression is as easy as venting it off from time to time.
Psychic Indigo: This type of Indigo has many supernatural abilities, I have never come across an indigo who was dominate in this type but I know many who have this as a sub-trait. Abilities in this trait are the better known abilities of the indigo most common ones being foresight and a very high probability of guessing things correctly. This trait although very well known is seldom developed beyond what would be considered supernatural but they do raise question of where the development of psi abilities is heading and also gives way to the fact that in newer generations psi traits may become more evolved and common. From everything I've researched this trait tends to be more apparent during childhood and is most time out grown by adult. This may give way to the explanation of why children are more sensitive to the metaphysical.
Spiritual Indigo: This type of Indigo seems to be more common; these types are usually spirit mediums on some level or another and can make great progress in channelling spirits. These types are often in contact which spirit guides or have a keen sense of sensing spirits around them. Sometimes these types can act as spirit "Shepards" having spirits all over making themselves known to the person.
Although the evidence that there is change in the perceptions and spirituality in children and adults in recent times, there is still very much skepticism when it comes to the Indigo phenomenon. Most cases now days seem to be disregarded as attempts to have attention starved parents feel they have a child more unique than other children. This is in many ways correct due to the recent mainstream rush of new age parenting books on the market which disguise themselves as Indigo and Crystal theory and fact. There is no way to raise a child with Indigoism or Crystalism all abilities are inborn and they manifest without any particular kind of nurturing.
Many other scholars consider the coming of these "enlightened" children and adults the very necessary part of a cycle which science and technology had held power of for far too long. They feel that Humanity will go through periods of Spirituality followed by Academic revolution and then slowly fall back to Spirituality again. However there are very few people who feel that this is the case.
Recently another phenomenon referred to as 2012, this phenomenon suggests many things Doomsday, Ultimate Enlightenment, Apocalypse, Armageddon, or a Spiritual change for the world. Many people in paranormal fields have recently suggested that perhaps the Indigo/Crystal's "destiny" is some how related to 2012. All interviewed Indigo and Crystal children ever say to this question is that they know simply that something will happen, it will be big, and they will play some role.
The phenomenon has been linked to the past and present and to some of the greatest minds, spiritualists and religious leaders known to man. The exact purpose of this shift in spirituality among adults and children is unknown, and too sudden to be ignored. Perhaps this is preparation for some unforeseen event or the result of a thinning veil. The Indigo phenomenon is one that seems to perplex the greatest minds and it stands that there is still so much to learn and explore on the subject.
